There is a specific way to set the sheet out, known as Third Angle projection. This format of drawing is understood all over the world. There are some points to remember:
- You can either draw your design in 2D software (such as 2D Design) or export 2D views from 3D software (such as SketchUp)
- The three or four views included need to be arranged in the agreed format
- The three or four views should line up with each other
- Dimensions should be clear (with duplication avoided)
- Dimensions should not be placed between the views
- No colour is needed
- Dotted lines should be used to show hidden detail
- A text box should be included stating the material to be used for the various components (which should be numbered and named).
